Description
Write a close analysis of your chosen passage from Tayed Salih’s Season of Migration to the North (between 2-4 pages) exploring the style in which it is written and the themes it explores. How does the passage you have chosen demonstrate, at the levels of language and/or form, some of the issues, questions, and strategies that we might consider “postcolonial”?
In considering these questions, you might think about some of the following–
· What is the nature of the narrative voice?
· What are the distinctive features of the language used?
· Do any phrases or images strike you as particularly significant, and if so, why?
This is a close-reading exercise, and while secondary sources are perfectly permissible, they are not required.
Indicate the page range of your chosen passage clearly at the top of your mini-essay (giving page numbers, and opening and closing phrases). This information need not be counted in your work-count.
