How deeply do you think that speaking a gendered language affects thought? After all, speakers of a non-gendered language assign genders to different objects, so it can’t be the case that having gender in a language is what causes people to even conceptualize an object as having a gender in the first place.
Can you relate this study to any other studies we talked about in class with regard to language and thought? Do you think that this study represents a stronger or weaker effect of language on thought? Explain.
