The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate the experiences and challenges women in technology faced as leaders during their careers. Although underrepresentation of women in the IT workforce is a global issue, this study intent was to understand how individual and organisational factors in the UK have helped and hindered women’s advancement in the industry.
This study did not address issues within the educational system that is one of the contributions to the lack of representation of females and student of colour in STEM. Rather, the research focuses on women within the UK industry and to generate a deeper understanding of the glass ceiling and how this impacts women’s opportunities to advance into their careers.
The area of topic is done in many countries, but there are no studies done in the UK. we can discuss more on it. Most of the interviews were females had non technical jobs but had something to do with tech or in tech companies or didn’t come from stem background but worked in the tech industry.
My supervisor is SUPER strict she is the head of the business school and also my lecturer who teaches big data and IT so you can write within the topic but as long im guaranteed a first. I really struggled on the lit review and had to redo it twice because she wasn’t happy but I’m just going to leave it you and ill let you know if I’m not happy with it.
I manage to find this idea work document i saved on my university computer. Maybe it can give you some ideas or inspiration. But as long as it’s about women advancement in the UK tech sector and that the topic is relevant do what you think will get me a high mark.
some ideas or what you can talk about leadership, glass ceiling but many research ready on that area, traits, bias, diversity or like what needs to be done so more workshops networking or mentoring you can go in that area and find if these help women advance and if that could be applied to tech like the accounting industry is doing really well with gender diversity what could the uk learn or apply in tech
qualitative, Semi-structured interviews, data will be collected following an inductive qualitative research approach
