REQUIRED COURSE TEXT: Boulding, E., and Ikeda, D. Into Full Flower: Making Peace Cultures Happen, 2010, Cambridge, MA: Dialogue Path Press. ISBN# 978-1-887917-08-7
Most cultures have had traditional forms of dispute resolution, some of them quite formalized.
Prepare a 15-18 page research paper discussing the rationale and the techniques employed in a particular culture other than the contemporary United States.
You may use a subgroup within the United States such as Native American tribes, Inuet people or Native Hawaiians. You can use cultures or groups in other countries, current or historical.
There is considerable research assistance located on a LibGuide for Conflict Resolution on the Trustee Library Site. http://libguides.brenau.edu/conflictresolution (Links to an external site.).
Note that the page length does not include cover page, abstract page or references page(s). Further, the paper needs to be submitted in Times New Roman 12 point font with no greater than 1” margins. The Brenau Writing Rubric below will be used in the evaluation of this paper.
You should identify who is designated as a dispute resolver(s) and how people choose someone for the role. You should outline the steps in that process as well as possible outcomes. You should include comparisons to the process used in other mediation sources we are studying.
Your paper will be posted to our class Canvas Website for all students to enjoy. No printing of the paper is needed for this course. Your paper will also provide the information for you to prepare a power point presentation about your topic to share with the rest of the class.
This paper will be graded on the basis of the completeness and quality of analysis, clarity, appropriateness of conclusions, conciseness, grammar and spelling. Also, when referring to or quoting from published works, you must use APA style.
