Prompt:
Take the position of an employee, not the manager’s. Envision the following scenario:
Your friend Chris works as a legal assistant for a local law firm. She is extremely frustrated right now, because her boss Mary (a partner in the firm) is giving her all sorts of trouble. No matter what ideas Chris comes up with for making the administrative processes in the firm more efficient, her boss immediately rejects them and tells her to “stick to her job.” Chris also feels like Mary does not like her and tries to do everything to keep Chris from getting recognition for any of her work, actively dismissing her efforts in front of the other lawyers. Chris no longer knows what to do and comes to you for advice.
What advice would you give her?
Also, what did you learn about yourself and why was that important?
