MUSI 1306: CONCERT ANALYSIS GUIDELINES
1.Attend a live streamed or pre-recorded classically-oriented concert.
2.Be an active listener and take notes as you listen.
3.Analyze the performance in detail (musical elements), program pieces, performers, venue and audience reactions (as much as possible in an online setting).
4.Write a report. If it helps, think of it as taking on the role of music critic/observer.
BASIC GUIDELINES:
•Write a paper of at least 400 words analyzing the event (substance trumps length).
•Include supportive documents to show attendance. This can include one or more of the following: PDF of the program; photo of a ticket stub; a selfie of you and your device with the concert live stream/video running.
•Submit all documents to “Concert Analysis” dropbox on D2L. NO LATE PAPERS ACCEPTED without permission in advance from instructor.
•Check syllabus and D2L for due dates.
•If you are unsure if a concert is acceptable for the assignment, ask instructor beforehand. Expected concert length is approx. 45-60 minutes
