Introduction to American Indian Studies
Your final assignment is focused on the novel There There by Tommy Orange.
Format: You can respond to the prompt in a 4-5 page paper or in an 8-10 minute recorded presentation. For written responses: 4-5 page paper, double-spaced, 12pt times new roman font, one-inch margins, in-text or parenthetical citations. Example (Echo-Hawk 24). If you are using sources from outside of class a work cited/bibliography is needed.
Recorded presentations should demonstrate organization and preparation. You can record presentations on Zoom, Panopto, or another platform. Presentation must be accessible as a file or link to receive credit. If you are using sources from outside of class, include a slide or document with all references.

How does the novel There There connect to contemporary American Indian issues of identity and urbanity? What is a challenge that a character faces, and how does this challenge relate to structures of inequity in the United States (ie: colonization, policy, social structures, etc)? Share an element of the novel that stood out to you personally. Why is this aspect of the novel important to you?
