Trauma prevention is an essential nursing practice that has considerable results in the reduction of statistics relating to injuries and complications sustained from the traumatic experience. About 90% of all Americans experience trauma in their lifetime (Dust, 2018). Therefore, an evidence-based approach to trauma that provides a variety of approaches that can be used in different settings, including clinics, home settings, nursing homes, or schools, is essential. Additionally, they provide evidence of the efficiency, reliability, and safety of the proposed intervention plans. Several deaths related to trauma or from trauma complications are recorded in the US annually. According to statistics, trauma is the fourth cause of death for individuals of all ages and a leading cause for people up to 45 years in the United States (AAST, 2021).

Another 43,443 deaths from motor vehicle accidents and an approximate of 2.7 million injuries were also recorded by the NHTSA, further rising the mortality and morbidity rates of trauma-related complications. These deaths include those from self-inflicted cases and those from the homicide department, which are considered criminal cases. These statistics indicate the severity and calls for nursing interventions that prevent traumas and effectively deal with them when cases occur. Prevention and management of trauma require specific intervention that focuses on attachment involvement of families that includes the nursing team and adults (Isobel et al., 2018). Through such a model, the nursing team can significantly reduce complications from trauma.

Part II:

In the table below, describe the population and the intervention. (You will continue drafting the PICOT, completing the shaded areas in Topic 3.)

PICOT Question

P      Population Children, young adults, motorists, and casual workers. These are the groups of people that are more likely to experience trauma as they are the most active members of the population. Although young adults can be taught on the intervention plan, children will require a care giver other than the nurse.

I       Intervention Nurses ought to work closesly with family, friends, and associations of the victim. Establish a realation between likelihood of developing other lifestyle problems like drug abuse, depression, and eating disorders aftrer traumatc experiences. Establish aclose realationship with the survivors to notice any deviation in normal behavior or posture.
