Description
Labeling Bias and the School Profession.
The problem: How students are treated or handled differently than students without a disability.
Question: Does labeling the student create bias with school professionals?
Null Hypothesis: There is no significant difference between knowing and not know the student’s disability.
Alternative Hypothesis: There is a significant difference between knowing the student’s disability.
Random sampling for the case vignette and questionnaires would be conducted on the university campus targeting students in the graduate programs of special education, school counselors, and school psychology.
Variable/Dependent Variable:
Write a methods section for a proposed quantitative study. submission must include a choice of one of the following means of statistical analysis:
t-test
ANOVA
Correlation (likely Pearson’s r)
Regression (linear)
Chi-Square
Should follow APA (7th edition) for all formatting. Include an APA formatted title page, double-space the entire paper.
Submission should include the following sections:
Introduction (but do not use a heading for introduction – see the APA manual for reasoning on that) . at least one solid (4-6 sentences) paragraph
Research design: at least one solid (4-6 sentences) paragraph
Research question: State a singular research question to guide the study. Follow the statement of the question with a paragraph helping to situate its significance. Imagine you’ve gone into depth on the importance of the study previously)
Hypotheses: State null and alternative hypotheses. You can have multiple hypotheses that connect to a single research question. This might depend on the research design and intended statistical approach.
Sampling procedures: at least one solid (4-6 sentences) paragraph
Data collection: at least one solid (4-6 sentences) paragraph. You should describe what data you would seek (this should match research design)
Variables: What variables would you anticipate being of interest within your would-be dataset, given your research design? Depending on your research design, identify the independent and dependent variables.
Data Analysis: This will probably take more than one solid paragraph. Explain the statistical analysis that aligns with the research design. Are there any assumptions that you would need to be sure are met?
Validity and Reliability: at least one solid (4-6 sentences) paragraph
Conclusion: one solid paragraph
