Arguing About Literature Chapter 1 defines argument and explains the major elements of argument. For this paper, you will be identifying the above elements of argument and explaining how the chosen piece uses those elements of argument.
Note that you are not arguing for or against the claim made in the piece, you are objectively identifying and assessing the elements of argument present.
Make sure to discuss the required topics in detail, using detailed descriptions and examples from the text. Remember to outline your thoughts before writing the first draft and include complete introduction and conclusion paragraphs. The submission for this assignment must be a formal, academic paper written in MLA Style and using all of the requirements of formal, academic writing learned both in ENC1101 and in this course.
Minimum Requirements
An MLA style cover section with your name, instructor’s name, course number and section, date, and assignment title. An MLA style running header is required.
Length: at least 3 pages (Works Cited does not count towards page count)
A minimum of 2 resources on an MLA style Works Cited with corresponding MLA
Style in-text citations
Arguing About Literature will be one resource (includes integrations from chosen piece and any additional chapters); cite as an entire book
Entire paper must be formatted in MLA style (including double-spacing, 12 pt. text, Times New Roman font, black font, and 1 in. margins)
Must be written in third person (no use of the pronouns: I, me, my, we, us, you)
