Instructions
Purpose:
For students to connect course material to “real world” issues outside of the classroom, provide students an opportunity to practice analyzing current issues through a social justice lens, as well as providing students an opportunity to apply course material to the world outside of the classroom.
Tasks(s):
Construct an essay in three sections that identifies and explains institutions level changes toward social justice related to the issue, event, or problem as follows:
Section 1:
In one paragraph, introduce the social institutions that have made or require changes regarding the issue, problem, or event.
Include a brief explanation of what a social institution is in your introduction. Cite correctly.
Section 2:
In two to three paragraphs, explain the institutional level changes made toward social justice and/or institutional level changes required for social justice to occur.
Correctly cite all sources verifying changes made and use course material to support your claims of changes required.
Section 3: In one paragraph, conclude your essay.
Proofread and edit your essay for clarity and standard English grammar.
Expectations:
The essay should be approximately 650 words – three to five paragraphs, with each paragraph consisting of 5 substantive sentences.
