Write a technical (final) report on a completed research project that compares the two most popular online audio and media streaming services.
The title of your report on the project is: “Report on Comparison of the Two Most Popular Online Streaming Services.”
The two services you are comparing are Spotify and Apple Music. In order to write the report, you have to conduct your own research online to define each service, explain each service along with background information, and determine the advantages and disadvantages of each service. At the end of the report, you will recommend one service or the other based on the comparison.
First, create a cover page as instructed in your lesson.
Here’s a breakdown of the report structure:
Introduction
Begin by stating the main purpose of the report. This should be followed by a quoted definition of “online audio streaming service.” Then provide basic information about both Spotify and Apple Music. What do they do? When did they begin? Who started them? How much have they grown?
Then explain the problem the research was created to resolve. Why would a user experience difficulty in choosing one service over the other? What were the results of the research? Can the results of the research be employed to solve the problem? The reader must understand that your report will evaluate the success or failure of the research project.
Summary
Briefly summarize your entire report so the reader understands what information will be presented and in which order, from beginning to end.
Project Plan and Procedure
Specify the materials and equipment used to complete the research. Then specify every single step in the procedure during the research. How was the research compiled? Which online sources were consulted?
What information was found on which websites? What types of information were used to compare the services?
Results and Conclusions
Describe the results of the research. This section is the longest of the report because it requires SPECIFIC INFORMATION, DATA, FACTS, AND NUMBERS.
Use a format that breaks down your comparison into separate categories, such as amount and variety of content, quality of audio, ease of use, pricing and plans, curation, platform support, etc., etc. That format might include heading and sub-headings, bullet points, numbers, columns, rows, etc.
For each category, specify the strengths and weaknesses of each service.
Recommendation
This is what the reader has been waiting for. Based on the prior results and conclusions, choose ONE service over the other. Recommend this service as the best choice for most users and explain why.

Make a list of every source consulted during the writing of the report.

This section contains other materials, including graphics like diagrams, charts, graphs, etc.
