Longitudinal Task (Literature review)
A. Research Question and rationale
• Formulate a clear and focussed research question of interest to you, and provide a rationale for it. i.e. why is it necessary to explore this question?
B. Methods
• Outline your literature search strategy e.g. what databases will you use ; specify the search terms or search string; specify restrictions ; and list inclusion and exclusion criteria.
The following resources may help with building your search string in a database such as PubMed.

• Run your search, and document the number of records identified.
C. Results
• Identify from the search results a minimum of three and a maximum of five papers relevant to your research question and would be classified as relevant.
• Summarise these papers in a table (tip: the following column headings may help: author, year, country; research aim; study design; characteristics of study sample – i.e. participants ; intervention (if any); main variable of interest or outcome variable; main findings; conclusion by author; limitations of the study as identified by you – e.g. no control, potential for selection bias, information bias, unable to assess causality due to. .. , etc, ). Include this table in your report as your results. .
D. Conclusion
Based on your review of the three to five papers, present a conclusion in relation to your research question.
References must be presented in Vancouver style.

Total word count should be between 800 and 1000 words (excluding table for Part B and reference list). You may want to use the following word count distribution as a guide.
• Research question and rationale – 250 words
• Methods – 400 words
• Results – 50 words (excluding table)
• Conclusion based on the review of the three papers – in relation to answering your research question – 200 words
