After selecting and reading your chosen article, write an article critique. In your assignment, you will be examining both the content and the purpose for the article. Be sure to address the following components in your article critique:
Introduction:
Who is the author, and what are their credentials? Why did they write the article?
Mention the central themes of the article and the arguments and claims of the author. You also need to state the author’s thesis.
Body:
What major figure(s) were covered in the article, and why were these figures significant?
What military needs were present in the post-Civil War era?
What was the social climate of this time period? What was the attitude of the soldiers coming out of the war?
Discuss the positive aspects of the article. Think about what the author does well, good points that he or she makes, and insightful observations
Conclusion:
Discuss the meaning or implications of the article’s contents as well as any flaws you find in the article.
Summarize the main points of the article along with your opinions about its significance, accuracy, and clarity. If relevant, also comment on implications for further research or discussion in the field.
