A mixture of a solid carboxylic acid and a solid neutral organic compound must be separated into its two components by liquid-liquid extraction using diethyl ether and aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution.
Once separated,the two compounds must be purified and subsequently identified. Possible unknowns are listed in Tables II& III.
