The theme of the presentations is the nature/nurture debate with specific reference to changes in the brain and an emphasis on plasticity. For each presentation, you are asked to explore the development of specific aspects of the nervous system.
In particular we would like you to describe the way in which typical development can be influenced by aspects of the environment. For example, taste is influenced by the variety of flavours that a child is exposed to and this will be particularly true at a given age; and the development of the hearing system can be damaged by particular drugs.
Note that we do not want you to include an overview of how the chosen sensory system works because this will be covered in class.
