You will record three consecutive days of food and beverage intake in any app of your choosing, provide spreadsheet, and a written assignment 500-750 words in length. This 3-Day diary of your diet (foods you normally eat and drink) is an industry benchmark used in the clinical setting to establish baseline meal patterns. Basic Instructions
RECORD IN APP: Select any app of your choosing. For three days record everything you eat and drink in your app. Do not forget your drinks and be sure to include things like additives cream you put in your coffee. This is your authentic opportunity to record to the best of your abilities all thins you eat and drink. If you app is missing some nutrient information, here is a website that you can use. CREATE A CHART and provide the following columns
Day: Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3
Meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack)
What: provide each item you ate or drank
Quantity: provide quantity for each item your ate/drank
Calories: calories of each item and total for the day
Saturated fat: you can provide a check mark if your app doesn’t give you amount
Added sugar: you can provide a check mark if your app doesn’t give you the amount. Please not these are NOT naturally occurring sugars.
Food groups: fruit, vegetable, grains, dairy, protein (you can provide a check mark if your app doesn’t give you the amount)
CREATE SUMMARY CHART: Provide the totals of all 3 days totals from above.
Total calories, saturated fat, added sugar, fruit, vegetable, grain, dairy, protein
Provide your caloric goal from your app and display if you were under or over your budget
ESSAY: In numbered bullet format (500-750 words)
CALORIES: Do you think your calorie budget is too high, too low, or just right? Why?
FOOD GROUPS: What are the 5 food groups of MyPlate. For each food group, give 3 principles or best practices of each.
EMPTY CALORIES: What are empty calories?Preview the documentIdentify and discuss the empty calories. What is the recommended amount of empty calories and how would excess consumption contribute to chronic disease?
CHOOSE MY PLATE: From Choose My Plate, select one tip sheet. that you have an interest in exploring. Provide the link and/or upload of your tip sheet. Discuss the title, tips, why you selected this and what component(s) you plan to incorporate in your future meal plans. Provide the URL and or use the snipping tool to embed a picture in your document.
YOUR APP: What app did you use to record your diet intake? How did you record it (smart phone, tablet, paper/pen, etc). What is your opinion of this app? Would you use it again and recommend it to others? Were you over/under your caloric goals. Why were you under/over?
RATING: On a scale of 1-10 (10 being best) how would you rate the quality of your overall meal patterns? Justify your answer with specifics.
HEALTHY CHANGES: Indicate what you could changes to your diet (additions and/or omissions) to reach your goal number for each of the five food groups. Provide any behavior modifications you would need to consider to adopt these changes. Include actual food examples and which meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack) they could be added to or removed from your diet. BE SPECIFIC.
REFLECTION: Provide your reflection on the impact a healthy diet has on your overall health in the prevention of chronic disease and cancer. Provide your self-assessment and all things of interest to you.
REAL WORLD: Embed a picture or picture quote incorporating any topic of this assignment you are inspired to share. Provide a brief explanation as to why you selected this picture and the relevance from your perspective.
