Assessment Information
This assignment requires you to choose any FTSE 500 international company that has recently (in the last 10years) expanded its business/operations to another country and analyse the company’s internationalization strategy. While you are free to determine your structure for this study, but in doing so please make sure to address the following:
1. Provide a background on the company. This background information should at the minimum provide information on the internationalisation strategy employed, and why the company needed or chose to expand.
2. Contain analysis of the external environment as well as internal environment of the company using analytical tools/frameworks
– External Analysis tools/frameworls- Use Porter Diamond to analyse the host country
– Internal Analysis tools/frameworks- use SWOT and Dynamic capability to analyse the company
3. Contain analysis of the internationalisation strategy the company employed. Link this to appropriate theory(ies).- use CAGE Framework to compare the countries
3. Based on your analysis, make suggestions on what the company can do for its next internationalisation plan
Criteria for Assessment
This details the weightings of the six criteria by which your work will be assessed:
Introduction and background-Specification of the report’s objective and structure- 15%
Analysis of the external and internal environment using appropriate analytical tools/framework -Evidence of ability to apply a framework to conduct a strategic review of the external and internal environment of the company- 30%
Analysis of the internationalisation strategy and linked to appropriate theories -Evidence of analytical skills to identify the internationalisation strategy and linked to theories.- 30%
Recommendation- Evidence of ability to state, on the basis of evidence, a personal position on country selection. -20%
This assignment is designed to assess learning outcomes:

2. Identify, assess and resolve management problems within international contexts
3. Critically assess current developments in the international organisational environment and identify potential new trends
