Write a 5-6 page fictional short story dealing with the themes of the class, that is, with issues concerned with migration/assimilation/racial justice/stereotypes etc. You may interpret this however you like–you can choose to work with one theme or a combination of all.
You may use first, second, or third person narration, or a combination. Feel free to experiment with form, style, etc. For instance, you are welcome to play with a non-linear structure in your essay, by which I mean that you can oscillate between description and reflection and move back and forth between different time periods using techniques such as flashbacks.
The only restriction is that the story may not be hateful, intolerant/discriminatory, or pornographic (although it may certainly deal with issues like bigotry and sexuality).
