The XYZ project relates to the integration of another department as a result of an acquisition. Both companies perform essentially the same operations and are in the same business. Mary Smith is the manager of the group that is taking over the merged group. The manager of the other group will report to her.
His name is John Rogers. It is important for Mary to determine how she is going to actually handle the management and integration. Her department has 20 people, and the integrated department has 12.
Goals
There is an important project coming up that must be delivered in six months. The actual resources needed are unknown, but both groups together are expected to deliver on time and on budget.
