1. Which more effectively responded to the problems of its day, the New Deal or the Great Societ?
Your answer MUST identify THREE PROBLEMS that BOTH programs addressed; these problems should form the basis of each body paragraph.
Each BP should then analyze THREE laws/agencies/court cases from EACH PERIOD agencies
Each BP’s analysis of evidence should include a discussion of why one program’s efforts were more successful than the other.
2. Considering at least three different changes that occurred in American society during the period 1920-1980, do you believe that change originated more from the masses (“bottom up”) or from the leaders in government (“top down”)?
Each BP should identify the CHANGE in its topic sentence and should incorporate at least one piece of evidence from the period 1920-1940; another from 1940-1960; and another from 1960-1980, for a total of at least 9 pieces of evidence in the entire essay (3 paragraphs that contain a minimum of three pieces of evidence each).
