Review Chapter 6, “Spreading Democracy or Asserting National Interests? The Case of the Wars on Iraq” in your textbook, Faith and Force: A Christian Debate about War.
Gain insight into the war on Iraq by doing one of the following:

Find an Iraq war veteran—preferable a close friend or family member—who is willing to talk about the war and interview him/her about the experience. This veteran could be from Operation Desert Storm in 1991 or Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

Find a video online where an Iraq veteran is interviewed.
Watch “The Hurt Locker” or another Iraq-themed movie.
Find a speaker/event related to the Iraq war in your local area.
Visit a local museum highlighting an exhibit on Iraq.

Read an excerpt from a memoir, such as American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen, and Jim DeFelice, or Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson. In place of reading either of these books, you could watch either (or both) American Sniper or Lone Survivor and provide your thoughts on these movies.

How have you been affected by the Iraq War: personally, as a citizen, as a religious person? Do you think Americans are as engaged in the war as we should be?

Do you know anyone who served as a soldier or in another role in Iraq? What is the appropriate way to honor their sacrifices?
