You will use the same group/population from the Annotated Bibliography. You may use your Annotated Bibliography introduction for this assignment but with corrections and making the introduction more robust. After the introduction, you should expand on the specific needs to highlight services provided to the population to address those needs. This course is designed to provide a general introduction to human services in the United States.
Emphasis is on services and programs directed at the most vulnerable populations in our society. The impact of political, economic, and social pressures on the delivery of human services will be explored. Race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status are considered in an effort to understand the need for various human services and social welfare programs. Barriers to services based on stereotypes and biases will also be examined. As there are various vulnerable, oppressed, and marginalized population groups in need of social work services, it is important that you become familiar with these groups and available services.
This assignment should be 3-5 pages (excluding the cover and the reference pages). A minimum of five (5) academic reference sources (peer-reviewed journal articles, research studies, or texts) are also required. If newspaper accounts, magazine articles, or Internet websites are used, these sources will be in addition to the required sources.
