You can focus on nursing generally or you can locate the discussion within your own field of practice. Key nursing concepts of care can be drawn from the NMC Code, the 6Cs, the NHS Constitution.
Essay Structure
Introduction
•Include a brief background statement about the general topic/theme of the essay
• Narrow the topic to the essay question
• Clearly outline what will be discussed in the essay and in what order
Background
• Build on the background statement in the introduction by defining and explaining the chosen concepts of care and its relevance to nursing / field of nursing
• It is important to outline why you have chosen these concepts
Discussion
• Critically discuss how the concepts links to contemporary nursing practice and contributes to excellent quality of care in your field of nursing practice.
• Critically analyse how the chosen concepts can facilitate the development of caring professional and ethical relationships to enable the delivery of person centred care.
Conclusion
• Summary. Summarise the key learning points that have emerged from your discussion above.
• Recommendations. Make recommendations on what needs to be done in light of your findings and conclusions.
