The Discussion Assignment
In this discussion, we will share ideas and ways of coping and ‘checking in’ on our own mental health and the mental health of others. You will investigate how the mental health of a nurse impacts patient care and the nursing profession. Please address each of the following in your initial discussion post.
1. What does the literature say about ways nurses have found to decompress emotionally and mentally?
2. Find and share an example of how mental health or the breakdown of mental health of nurses affects patient care and patient outcomes.
3. Find and share ways in which employers of nurses are supporting the mental health of nurses.
4. Share how you plan to ‘check-in’ on your own mental health and that of those around you both as a nursing student and future nurse.
