Out of the terrible tragedy of the 18 people murdered in the mass shooting at Marjory Stone man Douglas High School, the March For Our Lives movement has risen. High Schoolers are advocating for a national walk out day, demonstrations, and other activities to highlight their position.
Given that some of their actions might otherwise be characterized as engaging in civil disobedience; truancy, advocating for demonstrations in some cases without proper permits, etc. How would the theorists of your book characterize this group?
Do you think the theorists of the 1950’s and 1960’s would have recognized the shooting survivors as “youth” the way 17 and 18 year olds were perceived in that time?
Would your perception of their actions be different if your child had been in attendance?
