The period from 1930 to 1960 saw an incredible expansion in the size and scope of the Federal Government. New crises, including the Great Depression, the Second World War, and the Cold War, encouraged the government to establish many new programs and laws.
Select any two of the above crises (Great Depression, WWII, or Cold War), and describe how they encouraged the growth of the Federal Government using specific examples. Do you think this growth in federal authority was good or bad for the country as a whole?
