Present and explain the debate between Ruse and Laudan over “creation science.” First, what is creation science and why was it being challenged in court?
Then present Ruse’s “five characteristics” which he presented as a way of determining what is necessary for being a genuine science. Then present in detail Laudan’s counter-arguments against Ruse’s characteristics of genuine science.
If Laudan is correct, what is the right way to determine if creation science is a science or not? Do you think creation science (or its more recent version, “intelligent design”) is a science and so should be taught in public high school biology courses? Explain.
