Research Proposal + Annotated Bibliography Instructions on Nostalgia in Political Discourse
Your proposal will:
600 words for the research proposal and 100 words for each source (x4 = 400 words) in annotated bibliography for a total of 1000 words.
• Include a title that includes your major abstraction(s)
• Articulate the “big issue” and abstractions that prompt you to undertake this project
• Map the current state of knowledge (using reporting expressions, citation)
• Identify the research gap (or “knowledge deficit”) your work will fill
• Raise research questions that address the knowledge deficit
• Introduce and justify your research
• Indicate the scholarly value of your proposed work: the contribution to knowledge your discussion will make.
• Use APA documentation style & features of scholarly discourse for the annotated bibliography
• ONE of the course pack articles (provided in a separate document and cited below and at least THREE other academic articles that are not on the course syllabus for a total of FOUR.
Think about the genre of writing you are being asked to use:
What is the purpose of a research proposal? To pose a question that relates to the current state of knowledge, but seeks to explore its own knowledge deficit? It must introduce a clear and concise research question with a plan for how this research will take place.
What is the purpose of an annotated bibliography? The purpose is to show your reader why you have chosen these articles. How do they relate to your research question? How might you go about using them in your research paper? How will they be useful to you?
