Crisis Response Portfolio
For this Part 2 of your Crisis Response Portfolio, you will explore the necessary resources needed for appropriate disaster response in your local community.
To Prepare:
Create a section in your Crisis Response Portfolio called “Disaster Response Resources”
Search your American Red Cross local chapter for information related to mental health crisis response training requirements.
Search your local and national community resources for information related to crisis response and what they provide in the way of relevant resources for crisis and trauma.
Consider the steps required to provide psychological first aid to crisis victims.
Assignment: Part 2:
In your section called “Disaster Response Resources” of your Crisis Response Portfolio, include:
Information related to your local chapter of the American Red Cross as it relates to mental health crisis response training requirements.
Information from your local and national community resources related to crisis response requirements. Please provide at least one local and one national resource.
The steps required to providing psychological first aid to crisis victims. Please include examples of each step.
By Day 7
For Part 3 of your Crisis Response Portfolio, you will create a section for suicide prevention. This section will contain risk factors, suicide assessment questions, safety plans for clients, and state regulations for commitment procedures as they relate to victims of crisis.
To Prepare:
Create a section in your Crisis Response Portfolio called “Suicide”.
Review the Learning Resources and consider risk factors for suicidal clients.
Review the Learning Resources and consider questions to guide a suicide assessment.
Review the media programs Facilitative Response Activity and How to Accurately Assess and Help a Client and consider how you might create a safety plan for a client.
Review your State commitment laws and procedures and consider the steps that you might need to take with a suicide crisis client.
Assignment: Part 3:
In your section called “Suicide” of your Crisis Response Portfolio, include:
The risk factors as they relate to victims of a crisis.
Suicide assessment questions related to victims of a crisis.
A Safety plan related to victims of a crisis. (Please include specific steps.)
Your state commitment procedures as they relate to victims of a crisis. Please include what steps and contacts you would make if you had a client in your office that was going to leave and end their life.
Local and national resources for suicidal clients.
For Part 4 of your Crisis Response Portfolio, you will create a section/tab for sexual assault and interpersonal violence. This section will contain information on safety plans and resources to utilize with sexual assault and interpersonal violence survivors. In your final section you will identify three evidence-based practices for working with trauma.
To prepare:
Create a section in your Crisis Response Portfolio called “Sexual Assault and Violence.”
Review the Case Conceptualization you created for this week’s Assignment.
Review local and national community resources for sexual assault and interpersonal violence to support and consider for a safety plan.
Use the Walden Library to find 3 evidence-based practices for working with trauma
Assignment: Part 4:
In your section called “Sexual Assault and Interpersonal Violence” of your Crisis Response Portfolio, include:
A safety plan example using the client in the case conceptualization from this module’s assignment.
Please remember that the adults in this case are parents and you will want to address them as such by including safety of the child.
If you are working with the child, please include how you will work with the parents for safety planning with the child.
Please be sure to address sexual assault and interpersonal violence in your safety plan.
A brief summary of local and national community organizations that provide resources for sexual assault and interpersonal violence.
Three Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) for working with trauma survivors.
