Critical Analysis of Ethical Issue
The purpose of this 3-page (maximum) and double-spaced paper (not including title page, reference page) is for the student to demonstrate integration of theory and course concepts in the analysis of an ethical issue. The student will select an ethical issue relevant to nursing practice and will identify an ethical theory or principle(s) for analyzing the issue. A discussion of the analysis process and presentation of a possible resolution will be presented.
Course concepts, readings and other relevant evidence support the discussion. The focus is not on the ‘correctness’ of the proposed resolution of the issue, but is instead on the presentation of a logical, concise argument and the integration of course concepts.
In summary, the student will state an ethical issue, identify an ethical theory or principle(s) that canbe used to analyze the issue, describe the process of analysis, and suggest a possible resolution.
