Sport in American history
Select a sport that was not discussed in this week’s lecture track and field. Research the origins of the sport in American history, and write a four (4) page paper about those origins.
Include information such as the following:
• The creator/inventor of the sport, or the person who made it popular in America
• The colony or state in which the sport first became popular
• The year (or approximate period) in which it was first played in America
• Early rules and how they were different from the modern sport
Your assignment must:
• Include a cover page
• Include a reference page
• Citations from at least two academic sources
o Academic sources are scholarly articles that are peer reviewed.
Academic sources do NOT include encyclopedias, textbooks, Wikipedia, atlases, dictionaries, almanacs, etc.
• Be at least four pages in length (not including the cover page and reference page)
• Use 12 pt., Times New Roman or Arial font
• Be double-spaced
• Use APA formatting
• Be submitted in a word document
Historical analysis should be supported by facts from sources. Any idea you present must be supported by references from academic sources.
