Write a scholarly 5-page research paper including the following points:
Briefly state the disorder & describe how it presents (no more than ½ page). Use the DSM V.
Summarize and critique one theory that explains the disorder.
Summarize the most effective treatment methods for the disorder. Include a brief description of the treatment and what research has found about the effectiveness of the treatment with the disorder.
Include both quantitative and qualitative research, consumer perspectives, and practice wisdom (ask clinicians).
Discuss any controversies related to the diagnosis (e.g. ethical issues), what you see as future needs related to treatment and research on the disorder, and what it is important for social workers to know.
3. It is expected that you will use a minimum of 10 professional/research journal articles/books from the social science literature.
Your appropriate use of the professional literature will be included in the evaluation of each of the above sections and in determining your final grade on the paper.
4. The paper must be 5 pages (as close to 5 as possible – not including cover page and references), double-spaced, one-inch margins, APA formatted. Correct grammar, punctuation and spelling is expected, as is proper organization, clarity and style.
5. Critique and grading of your paper submission will be based on the following:
Explanation of one theory for the disorder, including critique.
Multidimensional summary of effective treatment methods for the disorder.
Discussion of controversies related to the diagnosis, future needs for research and treatment, and issues important for social workers to know.
Proper spelling, grammar, compliance with APA guidelines, at least 10 appropriate references, and the overacgoll look and organization of the paper.
