Campaign Finance/Outside Spending Analysis
This paper requires students to research the sources of funding for the two major political parties.
Using FEC data ,provide an overview of funding sources for the Democrats and Republicans.
This should include money raised by the national party organizations (RNC, DNC) and related organizations such as the congressional campaign committees.
Students will also analyze Super PACs’ spending, campaign actions, and related activities.Focus on the party candidates for the 2020 presidential election.
Create at least two original data tables (created by the student, not copied and pasted from a website) displaying information they consider to be critical to understanding trends in campaign donations to the Democrats and Republicans.
In addition to using campaign finance databases, students should draw on data from at least two media reports relating to campaign finance/spending. Students should cite at least six sources for this research paper.
