This week’s paper should include the following elements of a strategic plan:
A brief overview of your project and any changes you decided to make in regard to your focus.
Prepare a basic budget for your project plan and include the following:
Any capital investments describe this in detail.
Startup operating costs. Project planning
Start-up training time for staff and educators
Unique startup supplies
Any additional startup costs associated with your project
Ongoing operating costs
Equipment maintenance
Refresher training
Any additional operating costs associated with your plan, e.g. disposable products.
Where the funding is coming from investor donations, slush funds, bank loans, etc.
Prepare a cost-benefit analysis. This is going to be focused largely on costs and there will likely be some non-financial benefits as well. You may choose to include marketing image, quality improvements, regulatory requirements, advancing innovation, etc.
Not everything does end up with a positive return on investment. That’s OK, it just needs to be justified. Your cost-benefit analysis should include the following: A brief summary of your budget and investments
Benefits of implementing your plan may include any of the following: Return on Investment
Increase in patient base
Prediction of improved outcomes
Process improvement
Regulatory requirements (if appropriate)
Conclude with a summary of what you believe is the motivating factor(s) to move your plan forward. This is your elevator speech to justify your plan.
