Object report and analysis
This is a museum-style report on a single object. It is a record of the object which describes it and discusses its significance. 1000 words, two parts: a list in part 1 and a short essay in part 2
Part 1: The report.
For your object, list the following:
a. Describe the visual characteristics of the piece (form, decoration, etc.)
b. Explain the technical features (materials, techniques, etc.)
c. Note the function of the object (if known, and can include different ones if this has changed over time)
d. List of associated literature (where it has been published or if it hasn’t where have similar ones been published).
Part 2: The analysis.
This should be a short essay that contextualizes the object. What is its history? Why was it made, where, for whom and what is the general significance of this object? How would you position this object in the history of the circulation Chinese porcelain?
(Is it unique? Or is it representative of a type/ware/technique/glaze/style/decorative motif/form/time period/consumer group, etc.)
Format:
The report is part 1, and should list points a-d; the analysis is part 2, and should be essay style with
citations.
Include an image, image caption and bibliography of works consulted or cited in part 2.
