With the use of quantative research (Yegidis et al., 2018), within the foster care system across the US, there are hundreds of adolescents and young adults that are running away from assigned foster care homes due to some form of abuse, forcing them to become a part of the large homeless population in this country.
That abuse may be sexual, physical or emotional or mental abuse. Some of these young people consider themselves gay or fall into the LGBTQ lifestyle. And those assigned to care for them are not accepting of their choices. Therefore, this forces the young adults and adolescents to run away from these homes rather than stay and accept the abuse.
