Description
Writer, the paper should be typed in Chicago style at least two pages but no more than three.
12 point font, Double Spaced, including endnotes and footnotes.
The book review should follow the format works of the Journal of African American History or Journal of American History.
The summary of the book should be kept to a minimum, while the gist of the book should focus on the argument, methods, sources used, and the book’s historical significance.
Essentially, the book review should:
1. explain the book’s basic argument;
2. assess the book’s strengths and weaknesses; 3. note the book’s historical relevance;
4. provide evidence to support the evaluation;
5. evaluate how well the author succeeds in achieving the stated goals in the book.
