Rethinking Mission and Vision Statements
For this assignment you will be working to rethink the vision and mission statements of your selected library. Rather than starting from scratch, you will be critiquing your organization’s current statements based on the standards outlined in the course text. Then, you will be rewriting the statements in an effort to address any shortcomings found during your critique and analysis.
Instructions:
Use the library you have already chosen for the semester. Be sure to identify your library in your assignment.
Locate both the mission and vision statements for your library.
Using this template, you will critique and analyze the current vision statement based on the criteria from the course text. Be sure to refer to the text (APA citation required) and provide specific examples to support your analysis.
After analyzing the vision statement, create an updated version of the vision statement that addresses any issues identified in the critique. Be sure to include a short follow up paragraph after your new statement to indicate what changes you made and why (make sure to discuss in terms of the criteria used to analyze the original vision statement).
Repeat this analysis and creation process for your mission statement. When critiquing the mission statement, be sure to use the standards set out specifically for mission statements in the course text and not those used for the vision statement.

Be sure to include in-text citations and a reference page as part of APA formatting. Double-space throughout and use a 12-pt font with 1-inch margins.
