Critically analyse academic literature which informs pedagogic practice.

Description

A PGCE report examining the literature and research relating to specific areas of the curriculum/EYFS.

i.e exploring the approach of using manipulatives/concrete tools in the teaching of maths in the Early years inschools and how the same approach is used in the Early Years Foundation Stage in the development of fine motor skills (for literacy for example)- so in both subjects manipulatives or ‘hands on learning’ is used but in different ways to gain different skills.

-Critically analyse academic literature which informs pedagogic practice.

to critically apply educational theories, policies and evidence to reflect upon current practice.

The literature review should include a broad consideration of each curriculum subject or area of learning (EYFS), any relevant government/subject association policies and then will narrow down to consider specifics about how to teach that subject/area of learning gained from the literature.

A brief background about the subject should be spoken about first and how it is taught in the Early Years e.g why do we use manipulatives in maths?

What research supports this? do children learn better this way? and the same for the other area of learning which is fine motor development for writing. Why do we do use fine motor activities to help with writing skills etc.
