Leda and the Swan
Compare and contrast the two versions of the Leda myth presented in the poems of Rilke and Yeats. Research the myth in at least two print books on mythology.
In addition to the books on mythology you will use one other secondary source, an essay which appears in The Cambridge Companion To W.B.Yeats (2008). Read Elizabeth Cullingford’s essay “Yeats and Gender” to gain a better understanding of Yeats and his poem and be sure to quote from this source.
Use your research to explain the literary allusions and to do a close reading of Yeat’s complex poem; then explicate and compare the two poems. This is a five-page assignment and is due on April 25. The five page requirement does not include the works cited page. Use MLA form to document your essay.
