Impressive revolution
Assignment : You Are The Curator
For our final project, you have been promoted to a new, and perhaps arbitrarily granted, level of authority.
You are now the curator of your own imaginary gallery show. This means that you get to decide what art makes the cut, and what doesn’t.
This is an honor and a privilege; your imaginary gallery is the most well-resourced museum in the world.
You have access to any artwork made throughout the history of humanity, all graciously donated from the personal art collection of your memory.
Create a gallery show that incorporates 8 to 12 artworks discussed in this class or can be found in your book.
A prospectus is essentially a statement about the meaning and theme of the show, sometimes used as a way to describe what kind of art a gallery is looking for when putting out open calls for art, and sometimes used as a way to describe the meaning of the gallery show after all of the art has been chosen.
Along with your title, chosen images, and prospectus, submit 2-3 sentences about each artwork that you chose, explaining why you chose it and how it works within the context of your gallery show.
Are you choosing artworks with a similar aesthetic and color story? Or are they united by their concepts and subject matter? Does one piece change the meaning of another when placed beside it?
