Description:
A sequence analysis is an exercise in which you demonstrate your ability to closely examine one short segment from a film and come to some conclusions based on your observations. Primarily, this demands a shot-by-shot analysis of the film elements in your chosen sequence ; however, it also requires that you give an interpretation of how these correspond to and create some strength or impact in the film as a whole.
The final product should therefore contain two sections:
Part 1)
a shot-by-shot analysis including your own rough sketches of each shot, and
Part 2)
a thorough and refined essay discussing the overall impact of the sequence within the film as a whole, supported by your analysis.
