Professional commutations
Description
Task 1: Professional discussion (2.1 – 2.3)
You will need to work in small groups for this part of the assessment. Each group will be given a case study. In your groups you will need to prepare a professional discussion which will take place with your lecturer.
This discussion must include:
• How multi agency working could support the service user identified in the case study
• Each member of the group will need to research the role of a social work professional and discuss how they could support the service user
• Why communication is vital when supporting service users
You will need to write a brief report evaluating your own performance.
Task 2: Booklet (1.1, 1.2, 3.1, 4.1, 4.2)
You have been asked to produce a booklet for new colleagues regarding effective communication within the team. In your booklet you must include:
• A summary of effective communication skills
• Discussion of two reasons for effective communication skills in social work practice
• Discuss the importance of equality in communication in the client/professional relationship
• Analysis of two situations which may give rise to conflict
• Proposed and justified strategies to manage or resolve the two situations
Word Count: Task 1: 500 words (+/-10%)
Task 2: 1000 words (+/-10%)
Academic Conventions:
This must be:
• Formatted as a booklet
• Fully referenced throughout, with a reference list at the back
• Written in formal academic tone.
You may:
• Use diagrams, charts, etc (referenced)
• Use headings / subheadings
