This study aims to maximise the potential use of timber-framed offsite construction in the housing sector in the United Kingdom and to explore the barriers and constraints hindering those:
Objectives:
To identify the current levels of use of timber-frame construction methods and potential benefits in terms of sustainability/contributing to addressing the housing shortage and affordability within the residential development.
To explore which methods work well; identified from good practice case studies, and how to overcome barriers and constraints identified in the literature.
To determine how timber-framed offsite housing could overcome the housing crisis in the UK.
To determine the standardisation and implementation of innovative practices and how the government could implement, control and improve new policies for offsite housing construction more widely and provide recommendations in the context of the housing shortage.
