“The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects the rights of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve their wages and working conditions” . Private sectors are what this mainly applies for, and it does not towards local governments, state employers, agricultural, or federal employers. If there is a question in mind, they can be directed to the right resources if it does not fall underneath their capabilities. If there is a form of interest in bringing a union, then a petition must be filed from at minimum 30% of its employees to initiate it . A strike of an employer is protected dependent on certain situations by the NLRA. If an employee feels their rights have been violated, they can file charges within 6 months if when it happened. This is good information to know when this does happen because the employees cannot be coerced when they are deciding to exercise their rights since by law the employer needs to negotiate the conditions and terms for these employees in good faith. This is extended even long after the agreement has been terminated or the contract has expired. This is great for employees to not feel alone and have protection with the help of a bigger entity to represent them on their behalf with proper guidance they would have not known themselves. The board is still significant today as it assists with rule making in several areas to include: “organizational disclosure statements, use of videoconferencing technology, voter list and military ballots notice or proposed rule making, the standard for determining joint-employer status, election protection rule, student assistants, and representation election rules"

2, Hello Professor and Class,( Mar..)
Congress passed the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) in 1935, but it is still very much relevant and needed today. The National Labor Relations Board was created to oversee the provisions of the Act. Among other duties, NLRB is responsible for overseeing union elections, certifying a particular union as the official bargaining representative of a group of employees, and hearing allegations of violations of the Act from employers, unions and employee groups (Mello, 2019). The NLRB website is a great source for employee, employers and union organizers. Its a one-stop shop to find what your rights are, find the process of how to start a claim or search previous cases & decisions. You are also given the option to sign up for their subscription update which sends you an email about whatever information you request whether it be news related, announcements, board decisions and much more. The NLRB gives employees a sense of relief since they know there is a place to turn to if they feel they are being taken advantage of or have any questions in regards to the legality of a certain situation.
