Overview Now that we’ve gone more in depth with the genre of film reviews, it is time to perform a rhetorical analysis on one two remaining film reviews from the readings in week 5. For this next assignment, you will pick one of the two remaining reviews and analyze it.

Purpose This assignment is mainly a rhetorical exercise to get your thinking about an author’s claims and ideas. It will also help you develop the ability to recognize these same decisions and strategies in your own writing.

Audience Since this is an academic paper, your audience is a scholarly audience.

You will analyze the following elements of your selected film review:

The author’s main claim and purpose
The rhetorical situation
Three rhetorical strategies that the author uses  and whether or not they’re effective according to the rhetorical situation.
At the end of your paper, conclude by explaining why the film review works or why it doesn’t, and how you would improve upon it.
