3. Conduct your research. You can use the Internet, your local library, YouTube, etc. to find relevant and useful resources. BE SURE TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR SOURCES FOR YOUR BIBLIOGRAPHY! Be sure you answer the following questions in your research:
What are some basic facts about the civilization you chose?
How did geographic features help shape this civilization?
What were the religious beliefs of this civilization?
What were the cultural beliefs of this civilization?
How were the cultural and religious beliefs of this civilization connected? Did it lead to the growth or decline of this civlization?
4. Outline your essay. Be sure to review the videos below during your writing process. This is where you can bullet point key points and facts that you will talk about in your essay. Your essay should look like this:
First paragraph: This is your introduction. Introduce your topic. What will you be talking about? Remember, avoid using the word "I" in your writing . Your last sentence should be your thesis statement. In your thesis, state how this civilization's cultural and religious beliefs were connected.
Second paragraph: This will be a body paragraph. In this paragraph, answer the first two questions listed. Be sure you have a topic sentence. Also, be sure to cite your information within your paragraph.
Third paragraph: This is your second body paragraph. In this paragraph, answer questions #3 and #4. Be sure you have a topic sentence. Also, be sure to cite your information within this paragraph.
Fourth paragraph: This is your final body paragraph. Answer question #5: how were the cultural and religious beliefs of this civilization connected? Did it lead to growth or decline? This can be your opinion but you need to back up your opinion with evidence! Any time you use specific evidence, please cite your sources.
Fifth paragraph: This is your conclusion. This is where you "wrap-up" your essay. In your conclusion, re-state your introduction and state a fact that will leave the reader wanting for more. do not end your essay with, "And that is my essay! I hope you enjoyed it!"
