Do the following in your Excel file
Print settings
Landscape orientation
Fit Sheet on One Page
Header information
Put the name of the process centered at the top of the page – this describes what the diagram will show
Add the completion date below the name of the process
Include your name, as it appears in Canvas, below the completion date
Format
You may choose the font style, font color, font size, symbol colors, line colors, and any background color
You can find all the lines and symbols in the Shapes section on the Insert menu
Use the style and rules for the BPD from the System Documentation slides and the System Documentation video in the module
There should only be one activity per symbol, regardless of what you may see in other BPD examples
Create a Business Process Diagram (BPD) using this narrative: BPD 2022 Fall Narrative Utility Billing.docxActions.
Rename your Excel file with the name of the assignment as it appears in Canvas, and then one blank space, and then your name as it appears in Canvas .
Upload a PDF file to Canvas
Be sure you have completed all requirements before uploading
While on the Excel sheet containing the diagram (these instructions may differ depending on your version of Excel)
Select File from the Excel menu
Choose Save As
Select the save location
Enter the correct file name
Choose PDF as the file type
Click the Save button
The diagram must be on one page in the PDF file
Confirm that all symbols have complete labels inside after saving as a PDF
Upload the PDF file to the Canvas assignment page and click Submit
Immediately download your submission from Canvas to confirm that you uploaded the correct file and that it is readable and not corrupted
How this will be graded
Graded manually by the instructor
Multiple submissions are allowed before the deadline, but only the last submission will be reviewed and graded
Every time you upload a file with the same name, Canvas will automatically add a number to the end of the file name to differentiate the files
Major deviations from the required file name will be considered minor deviations from the overall assignment requirements resulting in a one point deduction
Rubric with 5 criteria categories at 4 points each = 20 points total
Criteria categories
Overall Format – Correct PDF file name. Fits on one page. The appropriate header information is included at the top of the page. Consistent and organized style. Easily readable.
Entities – Entity names are listed for each swim lane. Correct spelling and capitalization. Entity name matches the tasks that should be performed.
Activities – Activities in each swim lane are appropriate for the entity. There is only one activity per symbol. Activity descriptions start with a verb and use consistent verb tense throughout with correct spelling and capitalization. Correct activity symbols used. Correct use of start and end symbols.
Flow Lines – Flow lines are organized and easily followed. The flow sequence is clear. The flow is from left to right in each swim lane.
Thoroughness – Enough activities are shown to explain the process. The process can be understood from the diagram without having to read the narrative.

Competent (3 points) – Minor deviations from the requirements
Developing (2 points) – Some major deviations from the requirements
Unsatisfactory (1 point) – Many major deviations from the requirements
