Project Progress Report 6: In-Text Citation, Reference List, Results, and Methods

From the project progress report 5, you wrote the first draft of the “Introduction” for your research note. One of the goals of this project progress report is that you include the in-text citations for the information provided in your introduction, and also, the reference list for those in-text citations. Finally, in this project progress report, you will write the reference list, methods and the main obtained results from your collected data in the Zooniverse selected project.

Instructions

A) In-text citations

An in-text citation is a reference made within the body of text that alerts the reader to a source that you used to inform your own writing. Including in-text citations and rewritten information from other sources is a key element to avoid plagiarism.

There are several formats about in-text citations, but we will use the following format:

⦁ Open a parenthesis
Example:

⦁ Write down the last name of the author. Note, if the author of the source of information is a federal agency  or from a webpage , the author should be written as Anonymous

Examples:
⦁ If there are two authors, write both last name authors and connect these last name with and “&”
Example: (Rosas Alquicira & Franger

⦁ If there are more than two authors, write only the last name name of the first author of the publication, and add the Latin words et al. Because et al. is written in Latin, you need to write these words in italics.

⦁ After the comma, write the year of the publication
